Baseball Recap: Bonney Lake Comes Up Short

Bonney Lake was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Yelm Tornados.

Bonney Lake got a good showing from Gavin Jennings, who didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. Jennings has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Bonney Lake saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Evan Hellner, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double. Jayden Ortiz-Ruiz was another, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Bonney Lake's loss dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Yelm, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season.

While Bonney Lake had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
