Basketball Recap: Springfield Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Win

Springfield waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They came out on top against the Riverside Academy Rebels by a score of 59-47. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 145th, while the Rebels are ranked 323rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Springfield was led to victory by Dequane Davis and Chase Burches. Davis posted 22 points in addition to six boards and four steals, while Burches dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. Davis is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last ten games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Dequincy Davis, who had eight points and four steals.

Springfield smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in November of 2024.

Springfield is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.8 points per game. As for Riverside Academy, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10.

Springfield has already played their next match (against South Terrebonne), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Riverside Academy has also has no score uploaded for their next contest, this one against St. Martin's Episcopal.
