Basketball Game Preview: Calverton vs. Key Obezags

Calverton will take on the Key Obezags at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Calverton is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.

On Monday, Calverton was beaten by Takoma Academy 77-36. While losing is never fun, Calverton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 242nd, while Takoma Academy is ranked 107th).

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Key's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 53-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of Severn Run. While the Obezags didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Wolves 15-4 in the first quarter.

Despite the defeat, Key saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Anjo Yette went 6 of 10 en route to 14 points and five steals. Noah Moore was another key player, putting up nine points.

Key's loss dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Calverton, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-12.
