Baseball Recap: Lecanto Comes Up Short

Lecanto fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Central on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 5-2 to the Bears. If the Panthers were looking for revenge after losing 5-3 to the Bears when the teams met back in March of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Lecanto saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brenden Marcic, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. Garrett Pitzer also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Lecanto has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-16 record this season. As for Central, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-10.

While Lecanto had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
