Baseball Recap: Elk Lake Takes a Loss

Elk Lake dropped to 15-8 on Friday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They lost 21-4 to the Wyoming Seminary College Prep Blue Knights. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Warriors have suffered since March 21st.

Alden Felker made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one double.

As for Wyoming Seminary College Prep, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season. Considering they have won seven matchups by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

On Wyoming Seminary College Prep's side, Caleb Aponick made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over six innings pitched. Aponick also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Wyoming Seminary College Prep is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 7-9 otherwise. Aponick was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Leo Nockley, who got on base in all six of his plate appearances with one home run, four stolen bases, and five runs. He is becoming a predictor of Wyoming Seminary College Prep's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 9-2 (and 5-7 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Nieko Ravaioli, who got on base in four of his six plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.

Elk Lake does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Wyoming Seminary College Prep, they are taking a road trip to challenge Marian Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
