Recap: Newark Valley Cardinals vs. Delaware Academy Bulldogs
After a string of four wins, The Newark Valley Cardinals''s good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell 21-14 to Delaware Academy. The matchup was a 0-0 toss-up at halftime, but Newark Valley was outscored by Delaware Academy in the second.
Delaware Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tanner Bracchy, who rushed for 142 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries. Bracchy's longest rush was for an incredible 85 yards. Noah Dungan was another key contributor, rushing for 57 yards and a touchdown.
Newark Valley's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Delaware Academy, their victory was their fifth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 7-1.
Newark Valley will square off against Tioga at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Tioga knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matches -- so hopefully Newark Valley likes a good challenge. As for Delaware Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Deposit-Hancock at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Deposit-Hancock will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 376th, while Delaware Academy is ranked 112th).
