Baseball Game Preview: Acalanes Dons vs. Alhambra Bulldogs

For the second straight game, Acalanes will face off against Alhambra. The Dons will be playing at home against the Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Acalanes 3, Alhambra 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.

On Tuesday, Acalanes came up short against Alhambra and fell 6-2. The Dons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

For Alhambra's part, Keegan Murdock spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on ten hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Morgan Tran, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with five stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Shane Cowperthwaite, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

The win made it two in a row for Alhambra and bumps their season record up to 12-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Acalanes, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-5-1.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Acalanes has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Alhambra struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
