Sachem East extended their winning streak to five on Tuesday, bumping their season record up to 7-6 in the process. They skirted past the Lindenhurst Bulldogs 4-2. That's two games straight that Sachem East has won by exactly two runs.

As for Lindenhurst, they dropped their record down to 3-15 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only 4.29 runs.

For Lindenhurst's part, Ricky Nunez put in work no matter where he played. He pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Nunez has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Nunez wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Billy Steinmann, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI.
