Softball Recap: Mendon Beats Burr Oak for Their Third Straight Victory

Mendon never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Burr Oak Bobcats 1-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Hornets have posted since June 8, 2024.

The result came thanks to Ally Butler's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Mendon's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Rowan Allen, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one RBI.

The win (which was Mendon's third in a row) raised their record to 23-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Burr Oak, the defeat snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 13-4 record.

Looking ahead, Mendon will head out to take on Marcellus at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.16 runs per game on average), something the Hornets will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Burr Oak, they will take on Waldron at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
