Soccer Game Preview: Independence vs. Butler + How To Watch

The Independence Patriots will challenge the Butler Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing is sure in Independence's favor as the team sits on six straight wins at home while Butler has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road.

On Tuesday, Independence didn't have quite enough to beat Mallard Creek and fell 2-1. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Independence came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 75th, while Mallard Creek are ranked 350th).

Independence's goal came courtesy of Max Najera, who's now up to four this season.

Meanwhile, Butler kept a clean sheet against West Charlotte on Tuesday. They blew past the Lions 5-0. Butler found success even though the refs didn't miss a thing: three Butler players were handed yellow cards.

Butler's win bumped their record up to 5-12-2. As for Independence, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 11-4.

Independence skirted past Butler 2-1 in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Do the Patriots have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
