Softball Recap: Sacred Heart Starts off Right with Win over Waggener

Sacred Heart gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Waggener Wildcats as the Sacred Heart Valkyries made off with a 19-0 win. The Valkyries haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Emeline Brown made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Brown was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI.

In other batting news, Hadley Dierking was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Becca Carson, who scored four runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-4.

Sacred Heart always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .632. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Waggener only posted an OBP of .211.

Sacred Heart wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 5-3 win against Henry County on the 19th. As for Waggener, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 26-3 victory against Southern on the 19th.
