Softball Game Preview: Northwood Falcons vs. Calvin Cougars

Northwood is on a five-game streak of home losses, and Calvin a six-game streak of away losses dating back to last season. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Tuesday. The Northwood Falcons will be playing at home against the Calvin Cougars at 5:00 p.m. Northwood has given up an average of 10.2 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Northwood lost 18-3 to Captain Shreve on Monday. That's two games in a row now that the Falcons have lost by exactly 15 runs.

Mackenzie Jagers and Stephanie Ramirez did some serious damage despite the final result: Jagers went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple and one run, while Ramirez went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Calvin made easy work of Georgetown on Tuesday and carried off a 9-2 win. Considering the Cougars have won six contests by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Calvin has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. Northwood's defeat dropped their record down to 6-13.

Everything went Northwood's way against Calvin when the teams last played on March 1st, as Northwood made off with a 17-11 win. Does Northwood have another victory up their sleeve, or will Calvin turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
