Baseball Recap: Hopewell Valley Central Takes a Loss

Hopewell Valley Central fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Rancocas Valley on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Red Devils by a score of 4-3. The Bulldogs' loss continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Nick Skibik was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Hopewell Valley Central saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lucas Hemmer, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. Owen Lengle also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Hopewell Valley Central's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5-1. As for Rancocas Valley, they pushed their record up to 4-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hopewell Valley Central will head out to take on Steinert at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Rancocas Valley, they will venture away from home to challenge Cherokee at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
