Softball Game Preview: Perry Meridian Falcons vs. Greenwood Woodmen

The Perry Meridian Falcons will challenge the Greenwood Woodmen at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Perry Meridian's hitters haven't had much luck over their past three contests, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Thursday, Perry Meridian didn't have quite enough to beat Cathedral and fell 2-1.

Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Greenwood's offense. They came up short against Southport on Monday, falling 10-0. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Woodmen's shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Greenwood saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gracelyn Bowles, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one double. Charlie Hargis also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Greenwood has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season. As for Perry Meridian, their loss dropped their record down to 4-8.

Perry Meridian beat Greenwood 18-14 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Do the Falcons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Woodmen turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
