Soccer Game Preview: Sterling vs. Waltrip

Sterling hasn't had much luck against Waltrip recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Sterling Raiders will be playing in front of their home fans against the Waltrip Rams at 10:00 a.m.

Sterling is headed into Saturday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Tuesday. They came up short against Spring Woods, falling 8-0. That's two games in a row now that the Raiders have lost by exactly eight goals.

Meanwhile, Waltrip had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.5 goals) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They never let the Marlins onto the board and left with a 5-0 victory. Give the Rams' defense some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Waltrip is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 7-5-1 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 26 goals over those six contests. As for Sterling, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.

Sterling might still be hurting after the 5-0 defeat they got from Waltrip in their previous meeting back in January. Can Sterling avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
