Preview: Springfield Yellow Jackets vs. West Creek Coyote
Springfield is 10-0 against West Creek since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Springfield Yellow Jackets will head out on the road to take on the West Creek Coyote at 6:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Tuesday, Springfield came up short against Rossview and fell 59-48.
Springfield might have lost, but man, Rayne Erickson was a machine: she scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Micayla Harrison, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds.
Springfield was without their leading scorer, Shemauria Pope, in Tuesday's contest. With Pope sitting this one out, Katelyn Diviney got some extra time on the court (20 vs. her season average of 8.69).
Meanwhile, West Creek took a serious blow against Northwest on Friday, falling 61-31.
Springfield's loss dropped their record down to 11-11. As for West Creek, they dropped their record down to 1-12 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home.
Springfield didn't have too much breathing room in their game against West Creek when the teams last played back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 44-39 victory. Does Springfield have another victory up their sleeve, or will West Creek turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
