Baseball Game Preview: Putnam City North Panthers vs. Carl Albert Titans

The Putnam City North Panthers will venture away from home to take on the Carl Albert Titans at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with 15 losses in a row, Putnam City North turned things around against Putnam City West on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over the Patriots. The Panthers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, Carl Albert waltzed into their game on Tuesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They walked away with a 4-1 win over the Indians.

Declan Murphy was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Davonte Jones was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.

Putnam City North picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 2-15. As for Carl Albert, their record now sits at 16-3.

Putnam City North might still be hurting after the 8-0 defeat they got from Carl Albert in their previous matchup back in April of 2023. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
