Basketball Recap: Sanderson Takes a Loss

Sanderson lost against Cardinal Gibbons two weeks ago and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Sanderson Spartans had to suffer through a 63-14 loss at the hands of the Cardinal Gibbons Crusaders. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Sanderson lost, don't look at Caroline Bradley. Despite the final result, she posted eight points and six boards. The dominant performance also gave Bradley a new career-high in shooting accuracy (57%). Idah Ongwacho was another key player, putting up two points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Emma Hughes went supernova for Cardinal Gibbons, going 5 for 9 to rack up 13 points in addition to five assists and four steals. Hughes is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Jaclyn Deis, who earned six points and five steals.

Sanderson's loss dropped their record down to 1-18. As for Cardinal Gibbons, their win bumped their record up to 8-13.

Looking ahead, Sanderson and Enloe will face off at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday without much rest having both just played. Sanderson is facing Enloe at the right time seeing as Enloe is stuck on a 19-game losing streak. As for Cardinal Gibbons, they are taking a road trip to take on Athens Drive at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
