Basketball Recap: Vyom Vidyarthi's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Harker over Capuchino

Harker fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Capuchino on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Capuchino Mustangs by a score of 59-56. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Eagles have suffered since February 13, 2024.

Harker's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Vyom Vidyarthi, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. What's more, Vidyarthi also racked up four steals, the most he's had since back in December of 2023. Advay Monga was another key player, putting up eight points along with 11 boards and five assists.

Even though they lost, Harker smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 26 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Leading Capuchino to victory were Matthew Alas and Dominic Vanden Berghe. Alas went 6 of 10 from beyond the arc on his way to 21 points and five assists, while Vanden Berghe dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. Vanden Berghe is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last seven games he's played. Another player making a difference was Cameron Chin, who posted four points in addition to seven boards and five assists.

Harker's defeat dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Capuchino, the victory snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 6-9 record.

Harker wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 78-57 loss against Priory on the 21st. Capuchino has also already played their next game, a 55-52 win against Westmoor on the 22nd.
