Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Silverado

Silverado won the last time they faced Granite Hills and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Hawks skirted past the Cougars 6-5. Winning may never get old, but the Hawks sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Jace Weiss was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Silverado is undefeated when Weiss allows two or fewer hits, but 5-6 otherwise. Weiss was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Silverado let Fabian Garcia and Jayden Pauling run wild. Garcia went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one double, while Pauling scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Pauling is becoming a predictor of Silverado's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 5-6 when he doesn't).

Silverado's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-6. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Granite Hills, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-4.

Silverado will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Cougars: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:15 p.m. on Friday.
