Football Game Preview: St. David Tigers vs. Bagdad Sultans + How To Watch

St. David and Bagdad are an even 4-4 against one another since October of 2015, but not for long. The Tigers will take on the Sultans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

St. David's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Fort Thomas, posting a 50-0 win. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Tigers' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona football rankings (they are ranked third, while the Apaches are ranked 27th).

Vincent Ciccariello went supernova, rushing for 32 yards and a pair of scores, while also throwing for 163 yards and two touchdowns while completing 81.2% of his passes. What's more, he posted two rushing touchdowns, the most he's had since back in August. Logan Flake made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

Meanwhile, Bagdad strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 55-18 victory over Salome. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Sultans had established a 29-point advantage.

Bagdad's win came from a few key players St. David will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Thomas Rodriguez, who rushed for 99 yards and three TDs on only 11 carries, and also threw for 91 yards and one touchdown. Another player making a difference was Destry Owings, who picked up 195 receiving yards and three scores.

St. David's record now sits at 7-1. As for Bagdad, their record is now 7-0.

St. David suffered a grim 29-7 defeat to Bagdad when the teams last played back in September of 2023. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
