Volleyball Game Preview: Grand Canyon Phantoms vs. St. Michael Cardinals

After both having extra time off, the Grand Canyon Phantoms and the St. Michael Cardinals will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The timing isn't great for Grand Canyon: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while St. Michael has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road.

While Grand Canyon's win against Greyhills Academy wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Phantoms skirted past the Knights 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Phantoms have posted since October 16, 2024.

Meanwhile, St. Michael beat El Capitan 3-1 on Saturday.

St. Michael had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 25-18, 25-19, 25-21.

The win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 2-7. As for St. Michael, their victory bumped their record up to 18-10.

Grand Canyon took their win against St. Michael in their previous meeting back in September of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0 score. Will the Phantoms repeat their success, or do the Cardinals have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
