Marietta is 5-0 against Point Pleasant since January of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Marietta Tigers will host the Point Pleasant Big Blacks at 7:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Marietta has 17 straight victories, Point Pleasant has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Thursday, Marietta was able to grind out a solid win over Martins Ferry, taking the game 57-50. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked third, while the Purple Riders are ranked 143rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Point Pleasant lost to Warren at home by a 48-32 margin on Saturday.

Marietta pushed their record up to 17-0 with the victory, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 28.6 points. As for Point Pleasant, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-12.

Everything came up roses for Marietta against Point Pleasant when the teams last played last Friday, as the squad secured a 66-16 win. Will Marietta repeat their success, or does Point Pleasant have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
