Baseball Game Preview: Lake Blue Streaks vs. Canton Central Catholic Crusaders

The Lake Blue Streaks will head out to face off against the Canton Central Catholic Crusaders at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Lake's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Canton Central Catholic's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Having struggled with three losses in a row, Lake turned things around against Cloverleaf on Monday. They came out on top against the Colts by a score of 6-1.

The team relied heavily on Joe Woodin, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Canton Central Catholic). They were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over Aquinas on Saturday. The win continues a trend for the Crusaders in their matchups with the Knights: they've now won three in a row.

Canton Central Catholic pushed their record up to 15-5 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Lake, their victory bumped their record up to 14-11.

Lake couldn't quite finish off Canton Central Catholic in their previous matchup back in May of 2022 and fell 3-1. Can the Blue Streaks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
