Soccer Game Preview: Tooele vs. Murray

The Tooele Buffaloes will face off against the Murray Spartans at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Tooele was handed a three-goal defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Monday. They beat Cottonwood by a goal, winning 5-4. The Buffaloes wouldn't have won without Logan Valdez, who scored the game-winner.

Meanwhile, Murray waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. While the 4-4 score might suggest a draw, it was Murray who was credited with the victory. Murray got it done in the shootout by posting six goals to Orem's five. The Spartans found success even though the refs didn't miss a thing: four Murray players were handed yellow cards.

Tooele now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Murray, their win bumped their record up to 3-0.

Tooele might still be hurting after the 8-0 loss they got from Murray when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Tooele avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
