Recap: Gainesville Leopards vs. Van Alstyne Panthers
The Gainesville Leopards lost against the Van Alstyne Panthers back in October of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Gainesville was the victim of a tough 38-14 loss at the hands of Van Alstyne. Gainesville has struggled against Van Alstyne recently, as their matchup on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Gainesville still got an impressive performance from Ladanian White, who rushed for 87 yards and a touchdown.
Brady Carson was on fire for Van Alstyne: he picked up 125 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also punched in three touchdowns on the ground. Carson's longest reception was for an incredible 87 yards. Kaster Fonseca also helped out with an impressive 93 receiving yards.
Gainesville has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season. As for Van Alstyne, their victory was their sixth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 6-3.
Gainesville will take on Krum at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Texas (Krum is ranked 682nd, while Gainesville is ranked 684th). Van Alstyne does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
