Baseball Recap: Portland Christian's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Portland Christian had lost four games straight , but after bumping their record up to 5-5 on Friday that streak is in the rearview. They had just enough and edged out the Gaston Greyhounds 6-5. This was a revenge game for the Royals: when they faced off against the Greyhounds on Tuesday, they had to take a 7-5 loss.

Donovan Endres and Evan Satre did most of the damage at the plate: Endres got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs, while Satre got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI Satre has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Mazurowski, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

As for Gaston, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 6-1 Knappa and 5-1 Knappa (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 65.9% over those games).

On Gaston's side, they saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zach Bozich, who went 2-for-4 with two runs. Bozich has become a key player for the Greyhounds: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-4 otherwise. Another was Chase Oylear, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Portland Christian is set to take on their familiar foe Knappa at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Gaston will face off against rival Nestucca at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
