Softball Preview: Onalaska Loggers vs. Tenino Beavers
The Onalaska Loggers are taking a road trip to square off against the Tenino Beavers at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
While Onalaska's victory against Mossyrock wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Loggers had just enough and edged out the Vikings 2-1.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Tenino). Everything went their way against King's Way Christian on Monday as they made off with an 11-3 win. The Beavers not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since March 23, 2024 (when they won 13-3).
Chloe Grayless made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Tenino let Kylie Gonia and Georgia Gore run wild. Gonia went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Gore got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. Those two hits gave Gonia a new career-high. Jaeleen Woodward also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Tenino's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-14. As for Onalaska, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-9 record this season.
Onalaska couldn't quite get it done against Tenino in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 7-4. Can the Loggers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
