Basketball Preview: Fairless Falcons vs. Canton South Wildcats
Fairless has enjoyed a six-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Canton South Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Canton South took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Fairless, who comes in off a win.
Fairless scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They really took it to Minerva for the full four quarters, racking up a 66-36 victory at home. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Fairless had established a 24 point advantage.
Meanwhile, Canton South came up short against the Aviators on Saturday and fell 41-34.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Summer Hastings-Peterson, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and three steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played. Another player making a difference was Sydney Comer, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
Fairless has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 9-9 record this season. As for Canton South, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-7.
Fairless couldn't quite finish off the Wildcats in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 and fell 42-40. Can Fairless avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
