Baseball Game Preview: Royal Palm Beach Wildcats vs. Olympic Heights Lions

A feisty cat fight will be fought as the Wildcats challenge the Lions at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Royal Palm Beach will be strutting in after a win while Olympic Heights will be coming in after a defeat.

Royal Palm Beach is headed into the game having just posted their biggest victory since March 26, 2024 on Monday. They put the hurt on Palm Beach Gardens with a sharp 8-2 win.

Santino Spidalieri and Jaivian Padillia did most of the damage at the plate: Spidalieri scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Padillia scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Spidalieri a new career-high in RBI (two). Yandel Gonzales was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Olympic Heights' offense. They came up short against West Boca Raton on Monday, falling 11-0. The Lions just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Royal Palm Beach's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Olympic Heights, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.

Olympic Heights' hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Royal Palm Beach has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Olympic Heights, though, as they've been averaging only 4 strikeouts. Will Royal Palm Beach keep running through batters, or will Olympic Heights buck the trend?
