Baseball Recap: Righetti Find Success

While Righetti's win against Nipomo wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Warriors skirted past the Titans 5-3. The victory continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Titans: they've now won three in a row.

Israel Rocha looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits.

On the hitting side, Jacob McMillan was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Righetti's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 7-10 when he doesn't). Blake Thayer was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double.

Righetti's record now sits at 15-10. As for Nipomo, their defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 9-13.

Looking ahead, Righetti will face off against St. Joseph at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Knights' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Warriors' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Nipomo, they will challenge Morro Bay at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Titans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pirates have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season.
