Baseball Game Preview: Clayton Comets vs. Cleveland Rams

Clayton and Cleveland are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. Clayton will challenge Cleveland at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Clayton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.

Clayton is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Garner just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 6-5.

Jennings Dunlap put in work while hitting and pitching. He pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Clayton is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 4-5 otherwise. Dunlap was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Cam Bryant made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Clayton is 2-1 when Bryant posts two or more stolen bases, but 4-5 otherwise. Owen Fitzsimmons was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Cleveland lost 13-2 to Corinth Holders on Friday. The Rams have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Clayton's record is now 6-6. As for Cleveland, their record is now 8-5.

Clayton suffered a grim 10-2 defeat to Cleveland in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can Clayton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
