Football Game Preview: Hammond Morton Governors vs. Calumet Christian Patriots

The Hammond Morton Governors are taking a road trip to face off against the Calumet Christian Patriots at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hammond Morton will be strutting in after a victory while Calumet Christian will be coming in after a loss.

Hammond Morton took a loss when they played away from home two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They blew past Phalen Leadership Academy, posting a 62-0 win. That 62 point margin sets a new team best for the Governors this season.

Hammond Morton's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Anton Mathis, who picked up 95 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Mathis got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 62 yards. Ameer Daniels made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

Meanwhile, Calumet Christian lost 34-14 to Hammond Bishop Noll on Friday. The Patriots have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Hammond Morton will need to focus on slowing down Michael Clayton, one of several Calumet Christian players who made an impact when they last played. He picked up 100 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Calumet Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Hammond Morton, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
