Volleyball Game Preview: Fort Calhoun Pioneers vs. Bergan Catholic Knights

The Fort Calhoun Pioneers will take on the Bergan Catholic Knights in a tournament on Saturday. Considering both teams were shutout in their prior games, the pair is probably coming into this one with something to prove.

Fort Calhoun lost 3-0 to Ashland-Greenwood on Thursday. The Pioneers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 25-16, 25-15.

Meanwhile, Bergan Catholic suffered their biggest loss since October 28, 2024 on Tuesday. They came up short against Clarkson/Leigh, falling 3-0. The Knights have struggled against the Patriots recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

While Bergan Catholic was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-22, 25-16.

Fort Calhoun will have to contain Zoe Janke as she made an impact in Bergan Catholic's last game. She had 23 digs and one assist. Janke is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in each of the last three games she's played.

Fort Calhoun's defeat dropped their record down to 14-6. As for Bergan Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 17-6.

Fort Calhoun couldn't quite get it done against Bergan Catholic when the teams last played back in October of 2024 as they fell 2-0. Can the Pioneers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
