Basketball Recap: Cotton Center Drops Season-High Score on Amherst

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cotton Center). They took down the Amherst Bulldogs 40-21 on Tuesday. For the Elks, this counts as revenge for the 18-17 win the Bulldogs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cotton Center to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kylee Prutzman, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten boards. The dominant performance also gave Prutzman a new career-high in steals (eight). Another player making a difference was Rachel Walden, who posted 16 points and six rebounds.

Cotton Center smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. They are 4-11 when they hit their own glass that hard.

Cotton Center's victory bumped their record up to 4-14. As for Amherst, they are on a 14-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-12.

Cotton Center will head out on the road to square off against Meadow at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Amherst, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Whitharral at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Whitharral is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.3 points per game this season.
