Volleyball Recap: Duluth East Find Success

Duluth East won the last time they faced Brainerd and things went their way on Saturday too. The Greyhounds had just enough and edged out the Warriors 2-1.

Ella Tormondsen paced Duluth East's offense, picking up 14 kills. Tormondsen got some help from Chelsea Zentz and her 32 assists. Zentz was also solid from the service line: she led the team with five aces.

Brainerd's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Bella Goggleye, who had six digs and two blocks, and Sophia White, who had seven digs and three aces. Goggleye is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 13 or more in each of the last five games she's played.

Duluth East now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Brainerd, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-12.

Coincidentally, Duluth East and Brainerd will both be playing Irondale the next time they take the court. The Greyhounds will head out to face the Knights at 11:15 a.m. on Saturday, while the Warriors will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
