Basketball Game Preview: Sacramento Waldorf Waves vs. Encina Bulldogs

The Sacramento Waldorf Waves will face off against the Encina Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Sacramento Waldorf's favor as the squad sits on six straight wins at home while Encina has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.

Last Friday, Sacramento Waldorf earned a 54-45 victory over Foresthill.

Sacramento Waldorf's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Liam Mason Melberg, who went 8 for 19 on his way to 25 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Liam Aldwinckle, who posted nine points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Meanwhile, Encina played a tough contest on Monday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by Oakmont and fell 57-12. The game marked the Bulldogs' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Sacramento Waldorf is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 32 points. As for Encina, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.

Sacramento Waldorf might still be hurting after the 55-33 defeat they got from Encina in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Thankfully for Sacramento Waldorf, Sergio De La Cruz (who went 10 of 15 on his way to 25 points and four steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
