Basketball Game Preview: James Island Trojans vs. Fort Dorchester Patriots

Two dominant guards in Gavin Ward and Maricious Dawson are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The James Island Trojans will square off against the Fort Dorchester Patriots at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. Fort Dorchester took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on James Island, who comes in off a win.

James Island took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They secured a 55-49 W over Summerville.

Meanwhile, Fort Dorchester lost to West Ashley at home by a 60-46 margin on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 106th, while the Wildcats are ranked 23rd).

Fort Dorchester's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-10. As for James Island, their victory bumped their record up to 10-7.

James Island came up short against Fort Dorchester in their previous meeting back in December of 2021, falling 55-43. Can James Island avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
