Tecumseh and Lincoln are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2016, but likely not for long. The Indians will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against the Railsplitters at 4:00 p.m. Tecumseh will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
On Monday, Tecumseh made easy work of Jackson and carried off a 19-1 victory. The Indians might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by six runs or more this season.
Laura Nadeau made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Nadeau was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emma Eldred, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Aubree Barkway, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Tecumseh was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .611. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Monday Lincoln sidestepped Dexter for a 4-3 win. The Railsplitters haven't had any issues with the Dreadnaughts recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Bria Powell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits and racked up 11 Ks.
On the hitting side, Alyssa Strickland was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Savanna Kane was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run and one double.
The win got Tecumseh back to even at 8-8. As for Lincoln, their victory bumped their record up to 8-3.
Tecumseh's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's game. The Indians have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Lincoln, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Tecumseh continue to outrun the ball?
Tecumseh came up short against Lincoln in their previous meeting back in May of 2023, falling 8-5. Can the Indians avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
