Football Recap: Timpanogos Finds Playoff Glory Versus Bear River

It's playoff time, and Timpanogos had no trouble coming through when it counted. They breezed past the Bear River Bears to the tune of 41-14 on Friday. Considering the Timberwolves have won four contests by more than 22 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Andrew Hillstead had another great game (as he tends to do), throwing for 337 yards and three TDs, while also rushing for 113 yards and one touchdown on only 12 carries. Those 113 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Timpanogos' leading receiver Kyle Lapray was Hillstead's top target yet again, picking up 139 receiving yards and one score.

Another reason for the win was Timpanogos' imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Stockton Sondrup refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself. Another thorn in Bear River's side was Jesse King, who picked up a sack, made seven total tackles (4.0 for loss), and defended one pass.

Although Bear River took the loss, they still got scores from Eli Braegger and Glaiden Behrens.

Timpanogos pushed their record up to 5-5 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 46.0 points over those games. As for Bear River, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.

Timpanogos will face off against Crimson Cliffs at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 923 yards in their previous games. Bear River does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
