Baseball Recap: Brunswick Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Brunswick, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They blew past the Cleveland Heights Tigers 12-2 on Monday. The Blue Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by nine runs or more this season.

Brunswick got a great performance from Brooks Relic as he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Elijah Poindexter, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Brunswick's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-6 when he doesn't). Connor Adams was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Brunswick has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Cleveland Heights, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

Brunswick will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Tigers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
