Baseball Recap: Manteo Has No Trouble Against Pasquotank County

Manteo got themselves on the board against Pasquotank County on Friday, but Pasquotank County never followed suit. They blew past the Panthers 9-0. Considering the Redskins have won seven matchups by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Trevor Sawyer tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Manteo got a massive performance out of Drew Brown, who went 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Tanner Sawyer, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one double.

Manteo kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pasquotank County only managed one hit.

Manteo has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Pasquotank County, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Manteo will challenge Princess Anne at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The last three games the Cavaliers have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Pasquotank County, they will square off against Currituck County at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
