Preview: Ranchview Wolves vs. Pinkston Vikings
Ranchview has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Pinkston Vikings at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Ranchview focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 31 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Ranchview had to suffer through a rough 58-15 loss at the hands of Decatur. Ranchview has not had much luck with Decatur recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite the loss, Ranchview got a solid performance out of Christina Mokom, who scored four points along with seven rebounds. Mokom set a new season high mark in blocks with two.
Meanwhile, Pinkston's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their 11th straight loss. They lost to Oak Cliff Faith Family Academy on the road by a decisive 55-38 margin.
Despite the defeat, Pinkston got a solid performance out of Cenaya Calhoun- jingles, who scored 18 points. The matchup was Calhoun- jingles' 14th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zariya Pierson, who scored four points along with six rebounds.
Ranchview's loss was their sixth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 4-13. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.0 points per game. As for Pinkston, they have fallen quite a ways from their 26-12 record last season and are now at 1-15.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Ranchview have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 21.3 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Pinkston struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 25.9 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Ranchview might still be hurting after the 45-24 loss they got from Pinkston in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. Can Ranchview avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
