Softball Game Preview: Brewster Academy National Bobcats vs. New Hampton School Huskies

The Brewster Academy National Bobcats will venture away from home to square off against the New Hampton School Huskies at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.

Brewster Academy National lost 14-3 to Proctor Academy last Friday.

Meanwhile, New Hampton School faced Holderness in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Huskies had just enough and edged out the Bulls 12-11. Considering the Huskies' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Liv Sabin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and five unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up nine Ks. She also brought in an RBI, marking her first of the season.

On the hitting side, Danika Virgin was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Another player making a difference was Abby Schrader, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

New Hampton School always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
