Softball Recap: Schurr's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Schurr came tearing into Monday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Sierra Vista Dons 14-1. That's two games straight that the Spartans have won by exactly 13 runs.

Schurr's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Sarah Romero, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double. Jenna Franklin was another, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.

Schurr was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .389. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .389 or higher in three consecutive games.

Schurr pushed their record up to 12-3-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.3 runs over those games. As for Sierra Vista, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season.

Schurr will be playing in front of their home fans against Montebello at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Sierra Vista, they will venture away from home to face off against Nogales at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Nobles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.25 runs per game on average), something the Dons will no doubt try to take advantage of.
