Basketball Recap: Rochester Comes Up Short

Rochester was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They fell 35-28 to the Father McGivney Catholic Griffins. The Rockets lost against the Griffins in their previous head to head back in December of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 55-26 score last time.

Despite the loss, Rochester still got an impressive performance from Delaney Farris, who posted eight points and eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Alaina Stock, who scored ten points.

Father McGivney Catholic had a senior duo take command as Devin Ellis put up 11 points along with six boards and four steals and Izzie Venarsky almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 11 rebounds. Ellis is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as she's posted one of at least 50% in the last four games she's played. Alexa Jones was another key player, putting up four points.

Rochester's defeat dropped their record down to 8-22. As for Father McGivney Catholic, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 20-11.

Rochester has already played their next game, a 63-22 victory against Lanphier on the 15th. As for Father McGivney Catholic, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 44-18 win against North Clay/Clay City on the 17th.
