Baseball Game Preview: St. Catherine's Angels vs. Racine Park Panthers

The St. Catherine's Angels will challenge the Racine Park Panthers at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. St. Catherine's will be strutting in after a victory while Racine Park will be coming in after a defeat.

St. Catherine's took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against Dominican, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Angels won by a run and slipped past the Knights 3-2. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Angels as it put an end to their six-game losing streak.

Stephen Strasweski and Issac Cantu were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Strasweski struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Meanwhile, Cantu tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. At the plate, Strasweski went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and one double, while Cantu got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run. Those three stolen bases gave Strasweski a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Racine Park was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 36th straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Oak Creek, falling 22-2.

St. Catherine's record now sits at 4-10. As for Racine Park, their loss dropped their record down to 0-15.

Racine Park's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Saturday. St. Catherine's has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Racine Park, though, as they've been averaging only 4.1 strikeouts. Will St. Catherine's keep running through batters, or will the Panthers buck the trend?

Everything went St. Catherine's way against Racine Park when the teams last played back in April of 2023, as St. Catherine's made off with a 21-5 victory. Do the Angels have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
