Soccer Game Preview: Veterans Memorial vs. Los Fresnos

The Veterans Memorial Chargers will head out to take on the Los Fresnos Falcons at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Veterans Memorial sitting on three straight wins and Los Fresnos on six.

On Tuesday, Veterans Memorial made easy work of Hanna and carried off a 4-1 victory. Given the Chargers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 175th, while the Golden Eagles are ranked 615th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Los Fresnos' game on Tuesday was all tied up 1-1 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They came out on top against San Benito by a score of 3-1.

Los Fresnos hit San Benito with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Josh Trejo, Leo Perez, and Gio Barrientos.

Los Fresnos pushed their record up to 16-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 17 goals over those five contests. As for Veterans Memorial, their record now sits at 13-7.

Veterans Memorial came up short against Los Fresnos when the teams last played two weeks ago, falling 2-0. Can Veterans Memorial avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
