Basketball Recap: Midland Trail's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak at Home

Midland Trail entered their matchup against Greater Beckley Christian on Monday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Midland Trail Patriots lost 81-57 to the Greater Beckley Christian Crusaders. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Patriots this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 59-49 last Monday.

When it comes to explaining why Midland Trail lost, don't look at Payton Bailes. Despite the final result, he went 9 for 18 on his way to 30 points. Brody Jones was another key player, going 5 of 6 en route to 11 points.

Greater Beckley Christian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Drew Fitzwater, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 rebounds. The game was Fitzwater's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Jesse Milam also deserves some recognition as he scored his first points of the season.

Midland Trail's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-6. As for Greater Beckley Christian, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-5.
