Basketball Recap: West Lafayette Drops Season-High Score on Rossville

West Lafayette scored the most points they've had this season on Saturday, but it wasn't enough. They fell just short of the Rossville Hornets by a score of 51-49. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Red Devils have suffered since January 19th.

West Lafayette's loss came despite strong showings from Amaya St. Hilaire and Molly Andrew. St. Hilaire dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 boards, while Andrew went 6 of 12 on her way to 14 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Mcpherson, who posted three points.

Ava Burkle was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds for Rossville. Allie Elliott was another key player, putting up eight points in addition to nine rebounds and four steals.

West Lafayette's defeat was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Rossville, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Lafayette will face off against Twin Lakes at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. West Lafayette is facing Twin Lakes at the right time seeing as Twin Lakes is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Rossville, they will challenge Lewis Cass at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lewis Cass' defense has only allowed 29.5 points per game this season, so Rossville's offense will have their work cut out for them.
